<div itemprop="description">Al passed away peacefully in Nanaimo on March 17, 2017 at the age of 87 years. <br> <br>Born on August 2, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Al was the oldest of seven children. Growing up during the Great Depression had its challenges, but he enjoyed an active and adventurous childhood. <br> <br>In 1951, Al married Joyce Doreen Empey. They left Saskatchewan in 1965 and raised their family close to the ocean in Tsawwassen, BC. <br> <br>Al enjoyed a sales management career in the business forms industry, which took Al and Joyce to Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, and finally they retired in Ladysmith, BC. <br> <br>He was an accomplished watercolor artist, and enjoyed golfing and gardening. He spent many wonderful years with family and good friends. <br> <br>Al was predeceased by his loving wife, Joyce; his mother, Ivy; sister, Bernice; brothers, Barry, Howard, and Wesley; son-in-law, David Mulvogue; and his beloved bull terrier, Millie. <br> <br>He is survived by his daughters, Janice (Bob) Rusbourne, Barbara Mulvogue, Kelly (Alan) Klyne; son, Craig (Janet) Reavley; grandchildren, Myriah, Sara, Tamsin, Kristin, Jessica, Meghan, Kim, Xander, and Charlie; and great-grandchildren, Bella, Natalia, Sebastian, Ivy, Isla, Jordyn, Charlie, Addyson, and Olive. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Rodgers, and brother, Ron, along with his extended family and friends. <br> <br>The family would like to thank the staff at Wexford Creek care home for their compassionate care during Al’s final years. <br> <br>A family memorial service will be held at a later date. <br> <br></div>
